Welcome to the NITE website - please read the update below:
Hello all,
Recruitment for the Novel Insomnia Treatment Experiment (NITE) has now ended. We want to take a moment to thank everyone for your support, interest, participation, and enthusiasm for sleep research throughout this project. We still have a few wonderful participants who are completing their participation, so data collection is ongoing. However, we will be sharing our findings and results in the near future - so watch this space!
Best wishes,
The NITE team

Why is NITE important?Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that affects 9-30% of people. In addition to disrupted sleep, insomnia can reduce one’s quality of life and often coexists with other mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety. Sleep-measuring wearables, such as Fitbit, make it possible to view information about recorded sleep. However, these devices are not routinely used in insomnia treatment. Additionally, the devices often do not provide information about how to interpret the data. Therefore, this study explores how incorporating sleep-measuring wearable devices, with guidance for interpreting data, may improve insomnia. |
Participation from home during COVID-19
All components of participation were able to be completed from the comfort of participant's homes. Questionnaires were completed online, sleep sessions were internet delivered (e.g. Zoom), and disinfected equipment was mailed to participants.
